I was eagerly awaiting the release of this record so I could buy it because I loved Flyleaf's first album. The version of the album I have actually has 22 songs because I bought it initially off Itunes to get the two itunes exclusive tracks. I then came back on here and found out there were five more Amazon exclusive tracks. There is not a bad song here. Lacey's voice never ceases to amaze me. Also, the lyrics on this record are awesome. I like the musical style too. I know that the overtly Christian lyrics my be a bit of a turn off to some of the band's non-Christian fans, they are the opposite for me. I love my savior Jesus Christ, and what he has done for me, and I love how Flyleaf expresses that they feel the same way. Give this record a try. You won't be disappointed.

Brand New Eyes (Audio CD)
By Paramore

I started out as a casual fan of Paramore, but gradually, both albums grew on me, and now they're one of my top 5 favorite bands. I tend to think of myself as being a little outside the demographic of Paramore fans, being in my late 20's, but I don't care! I've been anxiously awaiting the release of this album, and to be honest, it's one of the first time in years that I've paid attention to the 'official release date' from any album.

Paramore has catchy, rock driven tunes with smart, well written lyrics. Hayley Williams' vocals are amazing...for such a tiny person she sure has a set of powerhouse pipes. I actually had expected this album to be a lot darker then the 1st two albums, after hearing the first single, "Ignorance" and also knowing they were going thru some personal band turmoil while recording "brand new eyes". But besides "Ignorance", there is no huge addition of somberness compared with the other albums.

Paramore has progressed and grown, while still retaining their distinct Paramore sound. I also think the drummer, Zac Farro, was given a little more liberty in letting the drums really lead and set the tone on a few songs. There are two quieter, pretty songs "Misguided Ghosts" and "The Only Exception". Thinking back, I can't recall any slower jams on the other albums that are acoustic and lacking drums like "Misguided Ghosts", and that stood out for me. But don't take that the wrong way, they're both awesome songs, and show a different side of what Paramore can accomplish. After listening to the album for at least a week straight, I really have been looking forward to those two tracks, as well as "Careful" and "All I Wanted".

I'm in the middle of listening to the album for the third time as I write this review. The initial listens were great. The band has really fine tuned its sound following up their excellent Riot!

The strongest members of this band are the lead singer, Hayley Williams, and drummer,Zac Farro. I feel that the reason why these members stick out (other than Hayley's unbelievable amount of cuteness) is that they have been the forerunners on previous albums. This still rings true for Brand New Eyes but we also get to see guitarists, Josh Farro and Taylor York, doing some cool riffs as well as solos. Also the bassist, Jeremy Davis, gets to lay down a meaty bass line in Brick By Boring Brick (not as epic as Fences but still pretty good) as well as doing a solid job on all the other songs. Overall it feels like the band keeps getting tighter as they refine their sound.

-The album starts out at a blazing pace with Careful. This song screams classic Paramore (a good thing).
-Ignorance keeps the momentum moving with another song that sounds like classic Paramore. Watch out for the 15 second long shredding solo near the end!
-Playing God is where the momentum shifts to a slower more emotional pace. Just need to point out that the Paramore boys get to do some backing vocals on this album starting with this song. Not the strongest track on the album but not bad by any means.
-Brick By Boring Brick as I mentioned earlier has an awesome bass line! Very strong song.
-Turn It Off is a slower song that picks up its pace during the chorus. Hayley takes the center stage on this song showing off her vocal awesomeness. The instrumental ending is a very nice touch.
-The Only Exception busts out the acoustic guitars.

Now 36: That's What I Call Music (Audio CD)
By Now Music

This time around, Now does a good job of mirroring exactly what's on the radio these days, and it just so happens that the majority of the tracks this time are actual album length instead of radio edits, and there isn't even much of an issue with 'censored' versions since most of these songs don't involve any explicit lyrics.

The continuing problem with the series at this point is the loss of four track slots for 'up and coming' artists--none of which has proved to become popular yet. And on top of that, they are now using only 3 tracks for the emerging artists and songs, and the final track is now a "flashback" track, in this situation, an Elvis track. Really? Is this really the proper use of a collection of current radio hits? It's just too out of place here, and personally, as a collector of all popular music since the beginning of the rock n roll era, I'm never going to find a 'flashback' track that I don't already have on CD. Instead of forcing an Elvis track onto a new millennium compilation, Now would be better of creating a new series called THEN that features all classic cuts from the earlier days of the rock n roll era...of course, that would be kind of pointless since there are already HUNDREDS of compilations that do just that.

Now 36: That's What I Call Music (Audio CD)
By Now Music

I started collecting the NOW series with #1 back in 1998, and for the most part was very pleased with the quality of the compilations they provided. Oh sure, there was a clunker every now and then, song-wise, but you could just skip past it and move on to the next tune. Then they started the What's Next format around #33, where they supposedly added the songs from groups that were to be the next big thing (haven't seen any of them make it big so far), and I said "OK, I'll give them a shot". Then #34 and #35 came around, where they seem to have forgotten what a "hit" was, and I wasn't interested in purchasing their product anymore (may have been the Bieber effect). When the collected songs only had 3-4 that I had even heard of (and I listen to a lot of current music), then I felt they had lost their way. With #36, I feel that they may be heading back in the right direction. At least 11 of the 16 songs have had considerable airplay, and they even got Sara Bareilles song on before it got big on radio. The bonus tracks still aren't burning up the airwaves, but they aren't bad (but really, MTV plays better artists as background music during Real World episodes; have they thought about promoting those artists?). If they need to continue the bonus tracks to keep the cost of the CD down (by not paying the higher fees for "hits"), I can understand that. But they need to keep an eye on the Billboard charts, to ensure that the next installments consist of songs that people have actually heard and are interested in purchasing, not just because it is a popular artist with a "B" side they stick on the disc.

It's my own fault, I didn't read the description carefully and thought this was a new release by Paramore, which I consider the most exciting and innovative band out there today. This is just a series of silly interviews, and I can't believe I paid $15 for it. Obviously I'm an idiot, don't you be an idiot too. This should be a free giveaway.

I am going to echo everyone who says that this cd hasn't left their player. Being someone that changes her cd every few songs it is rare for me to keep one cd replaying over and over. I love the combination of Lacey's sweet childlike voice mixed in with some well crafted hard rock notes. I had been going through some down times in my life and this cd is just what I need. The lyrics and music really relate to my issues and help to find serenity in my faith. I recommend this everyone. A+
